Ubuntu is an Operating System derived from Debian, designed with security in mind and distributed as free, open-source software with a strong focus on usability.

This is one of our most popular operating systems at WizzVPS, because it is both easy to use and robust. Ubuntu package management uses the Debian Packages (dpkg) file format, and is managed most commonly using apt packaging tool. All of our Ubuntu VPS's make it very easy to deploy a LAMP (Linux, Apache, MySQL and PHP) hosting environment.

We offer two Ubuntu distributions:

Ubuntu 8.04 LTS "Hardy-Heron" VPS

This is supported by Ubuntu Foundation who will release updates until April 2013, as it is a long-term support release.

Ubuntu Plesk VPS

We make the optional Parallels Plesk 9 Panel available on this from just £3/month for 30 domains (£6/month for 100 domains, £9/month for unlimited domains).

Ubuntu 9.04 "Jaunty Jackalope" VPS

This is supported by Ubuntu Foundation who will release updates until October 2010.
